“Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how sayest thou: you shall be free?
Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin. Now the servant abideth not in the house for ever; but the son abideth for ever. If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:31-36)
This Gospel passage comes from chapter 8 of St John’s Gospel and it is preceded by the story of the woman taken in adultery. The pharisees were not acting in the Truth when they brought this woman before Jesus to try to trap Him.
But what does this saying mean, ‘The Truth Will Set You Free’
Here’s a simple example. Supposing you go to buy a car and the dealer does not tell you that the engine is about to blow. In buying the car you are not acting in the fullness of Truth because the dealer has hidden something from you. He has deceived you. You are still free to buy the car or not, but your free decision is not based on the truth and you might not have bought the car if you had known the Truth.
If the dealer is straight with you and tells you of the car’s defects, you are still free to buy the car or not, but now if you buy it, your free decision will be based on the Truth and when the engine blows you will have no come back to the dealer. The Truth about the car has set you free to make your decision in the truth.
That was a simple example. When we know the Truths of the Catholic Faith, we are then free to choose to live our lives according to those Truths, or not, as the case may be. If we do not know the Truth then our actions are not really free, because they are based on falsehoods. But when we know and accept those Truths of the Catholic Church, we become free, because now we will act in order to try to serve God and we lose our fears of public opinion etc. Living in the Truth is what gives men the courage to give their lives for Christ, sometimes even in martyrdom, which is one of the greatest acts of human freedom.
The difficulties we currently face in our society are multi-faceted, and each facet is just one small cog in our enemy’s plan, which is ultimately to destroy our Christian civilisation by destroying the traditional Catholic family. He will use whatever means that he can to achieve this objective.
Those facets include the promotion of contraception; the introduction of divorce into civil society; abortion legislation; raising same-sex relationships to the same legal status as traditional Catholic marriage, the growth of Islam, atheism and Paganism, and now, the global move to corrupt the innocence and purity of very young children through the promotion of the LGBT and hedonistic Relationships & Sexuality Education ideologies that are being foisted on our children through the state controlled school system.
In chapter 14 of St John’s Gospel Christ tells us that He is the Truth.
“Thomas saith to him: Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.” (John 14:5-6)
So, if we want to get to Heaven with our children, we must proceed by way of Christ which means that we must go by way of the teachings of the Catholic Church which Christ founded for this very purpose.
“Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.” (Matthew 16:17-19)
In the book of Genesis chapter 3 we meet satan for the first time. He is the father of lies. Here’s the story.
“Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise?
And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat:
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die.
And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death.
For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:1-5)
Christ also tells us
“Or how can anyone enter into the house of the strong, and rifle his goods, unless he first bind the strong? and then he will rifle his house. He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.” (Matthew 12:29-30)
Satan is binding the strong men of Ireland through the collapse of the Catholic Faith and he is rifling the goods of our houses, which are our children.
In order to resist satan, we need to be constantly aware that, when we are involved in any good work, we must always be conscious of seeking to gather souls into God’s Kingdom. We must walk in the Truths of the Catholic Faith gathering souls for Christ. We cannot leave Christ and His Catholic Church out of the work or to one side. Otherwise it is pointless. We may win some battles but ultimately, we will lose the war.
We are currently losing the war in Irish society because Christ is not being mentioned, nor is He the focus of many of the works that are being undertaken.
We also need to realise that we are up against a very powerful enemy and that the war we are engaged in takes place on both the spiritual plane as well as our earthly plane.
Let’s go back to the garden of Eden and to the serpent. Supposing the serpent had said to Eve;
“If you eat the fruit of the tree, you will die, you will deeply offend God, you will be thrown out of the garden of Eden, your first born son will murder your second born son, and it will take God becoming man in the person of Jesus Christ to put things right again, and many of the souls of your descendants will be mine forever in Hell.”
Had satan spoken thus to Eve, Anthony and Kim Murphy might not have begun publishing the Catholic Voice and we might not have founded The Lumen Fidei Institute, because Eve might have told the serpent to ‘get lost’.
But the devil does not speak the whole Truth and he does not operate alone. He has fallen angels working with him and he also has men working for him. Towards the end of chapter 8 of St John’s Gospel, the Pharisees accuse Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebub. Christ answers them.
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.” (John 8:44)
Those who are promoting Relationships and Sexuality Education in our schools are working for the father of lies. Many of them may not be consciously aware of their master, but they are serving the devil.
The modern-day sex-educators are part of the Anti-Christ’s plan to destroy families with a particular focus on destroying the innocence of children. The plan is not new, it has been developed over many decades, but it is now coming to fruition because so many people, Catholics included, have fallen for the sweet talk of the serpent.
However, it is important to realise that in order to get to this stage, where some adults are now prepared to talk to very young children about sexual self-pleasuring, without any shame or any idea that what they are promoting is perverted, the Catholic Faith of the Irish people had to be undermined in a very subtle yet systematic way. St Paul tells us that the Catholic Church “is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” (1 Timothy 3:15)
Catholic Church teaching began to be undermined in a serious way after the second Vatican council and Catholic teaching on marriage and family life has been seriously attacked within the Church since the encyclical ‘Humanae Vitae’. In Ireland, the Catholic schools changed from using the long proven didactic method for teaching the Catholic faith to children, to what became known as the ‘experiential’ method. The results of this switch of methodologies are now apparent for all to see, the almost total collapse of the Catholic ethos as the dominant force in Irish society.
J.E.Greer, writing in ‘The Furrow’ in 1977, quotes Father J D King who noted that the Vatican II edition of the ‘On Our Way’ series, was “very much in line with the very recent re-thinking of catechetical presentation, which sees the need of greater emphasis on the experiences with which the child is familiar as the great channel for making religious reality accessible to his conscience”. (The Furrow Vol 28 No 11 Nov 1977)
In Ireland in 1976, the ‘Children of God’ series was introduced into Irish Catholic schools based on the experiential method and described by J.E. Greer in his Furrow article as follows. “Recently a further step in the revolution in religious education has been taken through the publication of the ‘Children of God Series’.
That revolution has led to large segments of the Irish population who are baptised Catholics but who no longer know or understand dogmatic Catholic Church teaching in several areas but particularly in the areas of human sexuality, marriage and family life. Catholic parents who practice contraception, will negatively affect the religious beliefs of their children, because these parents are acting contrary to the Catholic faith. Look again at Jesus’ answer to the Pharisees when they claimed that they had never been slaves.
“Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.” (John 8:24)
Sin enslaves man, and children in both primary and secondary schools are now being taught to commit sexual sins, because they are not being properly formed in their Catholic faith. Our university students are being encouraged to live sinful lives by Health Minister Simon Harris with his distribution of free condoms on university campuses.
Many faithful Irish Catholics have been fighting hard to try to keep abortion out of Ireland and have recently suffered an enormous defeat. It looks like that defeat will be repeated in Northern Ireland. But remember one fundamental point. Abortion is a business and pardon the crudity, but the raw materials for this business are pregnant women, often very young, and their unborn children.
The abortion industry needs a good supply of these pregnant women to keep their business going. That is why International Planned Parenthood is one of the primary promoters and developers of Relationships and Sexuality Education programmes throughout the world. If they can get young people sexually active at an early age, the rate of teenage pregnancies will increase as will the demand for abortions.
Abortion is now also moving from surgical to chemical methods and Planned Parenthood are also in the business of providing the chemicals. This move also distorts the known figures for abortions as it is impossible to keep an accurate database of chemical abortions.
The other main purposes of Relationships & Sexuality Education are to undermine Catholic marriage and the Catholic Faith, to promote the homosexual lifestyle, and to break down any and all taboos regarding human sexuality.
The World Health Organisation’s report on Ireland – ‘Sexuality Education in the WHO European Region – Ireland’ noted the following challenge to getting sex education into our schools.
“Some religious groups opposed to the provision of information about sexuality produce textbooks and videos for use in schools which give young people incorrect information about the efficacy of contraception and the consequences of engaging in sexual activity before marriage. Some have developed RSE workshops that focus on the promotion of abstinence. These groups influence the context of individual schools but not at the political or governmental level.”
As far back as 1929 Pope Pius XI warned of these dangers in his great encyclical on Christian Education, ‘Divini Illius Magistri’. The teaching in this encyclical still holds true.
“Another very grave danger is that naturalism which nowadays invades the field of education in that most delicate matter of purity of morals. Far too common is the error of those who with dangerous assurance and under an ugly term propagate a so-called sex-education, falsely imagining they can forearm youths against the dangers of sensuality by means purely natural, such as a foolhardy initiation and precautionary instruction for all indiscriminately, even in public; and, worse still, by exposing them at an early age to the occasions, in order to accustom them, so it is argued, and as it were to harden them against such dangers.” (Divini Illius Magistri 65)
That was in 1929. Now they don’t want to harden children against the dangers, now they want to encourage children to begin experimenting sexually from a very early age, starting with sexual self-pleasuring.
