The Corruption of Catholics

“Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God, or given thanks; but became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened. For professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man, and of birds, and of four-footed beasts, and of creeping things.

Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves. Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.

And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.

Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.” (Romans 1:21-32)

The first chapter of St Paul’s letter to the Romans shows us what happens when men seek to change the Truth of God and to promote lies in His Name, all the while claiming that what they promote is Catholic. They are given up unto shameful affections, and homosexual relationships, which are against nature, are praised and tolerated. They no longer recognise or seek to live virtuous lives.

This is our time. This is the time in which we live.
Children are being taught in Catholic schools in Ireland and elsewhere, that homosexual relationships are equal to the natural marriage of one man and one woman. They are being taught in Catholic schools that all religions are equal and deserving of respect. They are being taught that adultery is of no consequence and that divorce is acceptable. In short, Catholic children are being lied to whilst they are in school. They are being deprived of the means to live the Catholic faith and to promote and defend the teachings of the Catholic Church. They are being deprived of the means of their salvation. It is no wonder that here in Ireland, the attempted suicide rate is growing in the ten to fourteen-year age bracket, because these children are being robbed of their faith, their hope, and they are being robbed of true love which comes from Jesus Christ through His One, Holy, Apostolic and Catholic Church and His teachings which the Catholic Church alone proclaims in their entirety.

I have often pointed out the obvious assertion that, in order to correct a problem, one must first identify it, otherwise one will only treat the symptoms and the problem itself will grow worse despite one’s best efforts to correct it.

In a recent article, “Adultery and Homosexuality. The Two Vanished Words”, the Italian journalist, Sandro Magister, quotes a Benedictine monk of the abbey of the Madonna della Scala in Noci, Dom Giulio Meiattini, who said, speaking of the virtual disappearance of the words Adultery and Homosexuality:

“It is known that when one wishes to marginalize or eliminate some truth, there is no need to contradict it openly; on the contrary, this would be the worst strategy, because it would prompt open reactions and draw attention. Much better, instead, to pass over it in silence, not talk about it anymore, to lock it up with the old junk in the attic or the basement, and over the span of some time all memory of it will be lost, and life will go on as if it were no longer there.”

I basically agree with this statement however, it should be noted that the promotion of the falsehood usually precedes the silence which follows. The sinful behaviour is justified and excused and then the silence from those in authority who should speak out. We should also note that there is also another word which is rarely used and that is the word ‘sin’. Rarely do we hear anyone speak of active homosexual relationships as being sinful, or of adultery or ‘irregular unions’, as adultery is now often called, as being sinful. In Ireland, many Catholics advocate in favour of legal protection for these sinful relationships which endanger the eternal salvation of those who chose to live in a sinful way. The supernatural outlook is no longer given its due priority.

In trying to trace back to the source of the LGBT aspect of our problems, I had recourse to the ‘We Are Church Ireland’ website. Here are some of the article headings from this website to give you an idea of what this group seeks to promote as Catholic.

‘19th Annual LGBT Christmas Carol Service’, ‘Mary McAleese says Maynooth should be ‘gay-friendly’, ‘ALL ARE WELCOME MASS’, and ‘Fr John J. McNeill R.I.P.’

Fr John McNeill

These articles were filed under the ‘LGBT’ category on the website, so I was interested in finding out who Fr John J McNeill was, who died in 2015 and who was celebrated by ‘We Are Church Ireland’. It turns out that he was one of the leading figures in advocating for and promoting the homosexual lifestyle within the Catholic Church. He was an active homosexual who lived with another man for 46 years. I was not surprised to find out the that he was once a Jesuit. Priests from this great order founded by St Ignatius seem to be at the forefront of the push to normalise homosexual relationships. I was also unsurprised to find out that he obtained his PhD from the ‘Catholic’ University of Leuven in Belgium, another hotbed for promoting false teachings and calling them Catholic.

In 1976, Fr McNeill published a book titled “The Church and the Homosexual”. A Wikipedia article on his life says this of the book.

“It argued for a change in Church teaching and that homosexual relationships should be judged by the same standard of heterosexual ones. It argued that a stable, loving same-sex relationship was just as moral, and just as godly, as a heterosexual one and should be acknowledged as such by church leaders. It has been credited with helping to set in motion the re-evaluation of the religious stance toward gay people.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_J._McNeill)

It is interesting to note that, although this book contradicted Catholic teaching, it was erroneously given an ‘Imprimi potest’ declaring it to be free from doctrinal error by Fr McNeill’s Jesuit superiors. This action of the Jesuits, apart for leading Catholics astray regarding Catholic teaching on same-sex attraction, also damaged the credibility of having an Imprimatur for a book, as these could no longer be trusted.

In 1977, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, ordered the removal of the Imprimatur from the book and Fr McNeill was ordered not to speak publicly on the issue of homosexuality and morality because his views were contrary to Catholic Church teaching. It was too late, because the damage had already been done, and the book went on to be published in French, Spanish, Italian and Danish.

Fr McNeill was also a founder member of the New York chapter of the heretical, homosexual lifestyle promoting, organisation Dignity USA. In the New York Times obituary for Fr McNeill there is a photograph from a 1980s gay pride parade in New York which features Fr McNeill and three other priests all dressed in clerics marching in the parade.

After further restrictions were placed on Fr McNeill in 1987, he was expelled from the Jesuits for breaking the silence that had been imposed on him and for refusing to obey orders from Cardinal Ratzinger, then prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Fr McNeill in the preface to the fourth edition of his book said to ‘gay’ Catholics, “I hope, too, that they will be able to defang the poisons of pathologically homophobic religion, accepting the good news that God loves and accepts them as gay and refusing to be caught in the vortex of self-hatred vis-à-vis a God of fear.”

Fr McNeill’s erroneous views continued to gain ground and to be promoted by priests and religious within the Catholic Church. In Ireland, a 2010 issue of the heterodox monthly magazine, ‘The Furrow’, which is published from St Patrick’s College Maynooth with a priest of the college as editor, included an article by Fr Owen O’Sullivan OFM Cap which once again promoted the homosexual lifestyle. In that article, referring to immoral homosexual relations he said, by way of advocation for the unnatural use of human sexuality in a same-sex relationship:

“For homosexuals, is the gift of their sexuality meant to be wrapped up, buried, and returned unused? Why did God make people sexual, if not for them to give expression to it?”

Fr Owen O’Sullivan OFM

Fr O’Sullivan was ordered by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, not to write for publication unless his writings had been first approved by the Congregation. This ‘silencing’ of Irish priests who corrupt Catholic teaching was used by ‘We Are Church Ireland’ to hold a protest outside the Papal Nunciature in Dublin in 2012.

As St Paul says, these people “…when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God, or given thanks; but became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened. For professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man… Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:21-23, 25)

One of the real tragedies of this whole situation is that no Irish bishop has publicly intervened or publicly protested the promotion of these false LGBT teachings in Catholic schools which are contrary to Catholic teaching and which are leading souls to Hell. The Furrow magazine is based on the campus of St Patrick’s college in Maynooth and yet nothing was done to prevent Fr O’Sullivan’s erroneous teachings from being published. There was a lack of oversight by those in authority in Ireland which endangered those who read this magazine. This lack of oversight led to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith having to intervene.

I have to say that I really do not enjoy writing about this because the subject matter is distasteful in many ways, but now, these false teachings are being promoted to Catholic children in Catholic schools and still our bishops remain silent. Catholic parents must be made aware of what is happening to endanger their children and of where much of it is coming from.

Those of us who speak out are labelled as homophobic and eventually moves will be made to silence us in the public square. But we must speak out for the sake of the children and for the sake of the souls of those whose lives are burdened by same-sex attraction. Nobody is born ‘gay’ but people don’t choose it either.

As Dr Gerard van den Aardweg states in his paper on ‘The Psychogenesis of Homosexuality’,

Dr Gerard van den Aardweg

“The best-established facts in relation to homosexuality point to developmental-psychological, not genetic or physiological, causation… many studies have shown that the most significant factor which correlates with homosexuality is “gender nonconformity” or same-sex peer isolation. Another factor closely associated with homosexuality is an imbalance in parent-child interaction, notably forms of over-influence of the opposite-sex parent in combination with a deficient relationship with the same-sex parent. The third well-established correlation is with inherent, rather than discrimination-produced, “neuroticism” or emotional instability or immaturity.”

A group of Muslims in Birmingham have managed to stop the promotion of the LGBT agenda to their children in four primary schools by coming together as an organised group to insist that this was not going to be taught to their children. They withdrew their children from the school for a day in protest. Unlike Catholic parents in Ireland, these parents had the support of their religious leaders who helped them to organise and to oppose the corruption of their own children. These Muslims have shown us the value of organised parent-power.

Catholic parents in Ireland must come together to protect their children and we must pray for the day when at least one of our bishops will be prepared to stand with us to protect our children from this harmful LGBT ideology despite the name calling.

May God bless you
